Preservation Month
Every May, preservationists across the country take time to celebrate what matters most: the buildings, neighborhoods, and landscapes that ground us and bring us together. Preservation Month is a chance to honor this work and get involved.
Sixty years ago, Preservation Utah began with a simple belief: places matter. The buildings and neighborhoods where we live, work, and gather are worth protecting. This May, as our country celebrates 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, that belief feels more important than ever. Nationally, the focus is on the places that embody America's foundational belief: that all people are created equal. In Utah, these places are all around us: neighborhoods built by immigrants, civic landmarks where rights were won, and homes that hold stories worth remembering. Built to last. Built for everyone. That’s what 60 years of preservation means.

Preservation Month is a community effort that goes beyond any one organization.
All over Utah, people are celebrating with tours, lectures, neighborhood clean-ups, and exhibitions, and we want to help share those stories.
During May, Preservation Utah will also offer guided tours, advocacy updates, volunteer opportunities, and special events at Memorial House and other locations.
If your group is planning something this May, please let us know. We’ll include it on our statewide calendar and help spread the word.
