Event staff sign up for available shifts based on scheduled events. Most shifts occur in the evenings and on weekends, with occasional daytime events.
Starting at $15/hour, with opportunities for higher hourly rates based on experience and demonstrated reliability.

Ongoing, year-round position. Hours vary based on scheduled events, with higher activity during peak wedding and event seasons (generally April–October)
About the Role
This is an on-call, event-based position where staff sign up for shifts as events are scheduled. Event Staff play an important role in creating a welcoming and well-organized experience for clients and guests while helping steward one of Salt Lake City’s historic community gathering places. Event staff sign up for available shifts based on scheduled events. Most shifts occur in the evenings and on weekends, with occasional daytime events.
Responsibilities
Event Set-Up and Take-Down
Assist in the setup and breakdown of event spaces, including arranging furniture and equipment.
Ensure all event elements, including audiovisual equipment, signage, and materials, are in place.
Assist with the dismantling and cleanup of event spaces after the event concludes.
Client Coordination
Act as a point of contact for clients during events.
Address client inquiries and requests promptly and professionally, and ensure their satisfaction.
Gate Access Management
Monitor and manage access points to ensure only authorized personnel enter event spaces.
Handle issues related to gate access or security during events.
Venue Maintenance
Monitor and maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the event venue.
Assist with the cleanup of event spaces after the event concludes.
Event Logistics
Assist in managing event logistics as outlined in the event plan.
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure their timely arrival and setup.
Troubleshoot and address logistical issues as they arise.
Customer Service
Provide exceptional customer service to all event attendees and clients.
Address guest inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
Ensure a positive and welcoming atmosphere at all times.
About Us and the Position
Preservation Utah is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and celebrating Utah’s historic architecture and places. Preservation Utah manages Memorial House, a historic landmark located in Memory Grove Park in Salt Lake City. The building serves both as Preservation Utah’s headquarters and as a community event venue that hosts weddings, nonprofit gatherings, cultural events, and private celebrations throughout the year. Event rentals help support the organization’s preservation programs and public initiatives across the state.
Event Staff supports the successful operation of events hosted at Memorial House. Working under the supervision of the Memorial House Events Manager, staff assist with event setup and breakdown, coordinate with clients and vendors, monitor venue access, and help ensure events run smoothly from start to finish.
Required Qualifications
Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and move event equipment (10-25 lbs)
Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in event support or a related field is a plus.

Other Duties
Adapt to and assist with various tasks as needed to ensure event success.
Collaborate with the Events Manager to brainstorm and implement improvements in event processes.
