Come hear the stories of preserving Park City’s iconic Silver King Coalition mine building in a free talk at the Park City Library on Wednesday, May 13, at 5 pm in the Jim Santy auditorium, presented by the Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History.


Local expert, career geologist, and project manager Brian Buck will share the challenges and successes, and photos from before, during, and after the 4-year restoration process of the 100-year old building.. 


The newly restored Silver King Coalition mine building was awarded the 2026 Cindy Matsumoto Award for Historic Preservation by Park City’s Historic Preservation Board and the 2026 Community Steward award from Preservation Utah.


This 12,400-square-foot industrial landmark had been vacant since 1953, listed among Preservation Utah's 2024 Most Endangered Sites, and at risk of structural failure due to a collapsing mine shaft. Completed in October 2025, the project stabilized the 1,325-foot-deep shaft, removed more than…
