The historic Marmalade neighborhood is one of Salt Lake City’s most distinctive and picturesque areas. Named for its fruit-themed streets, this charming district is known for its steep lanes, unique layout, and an impressive collection of historic homes built by early artisans and craftsmen.
After periods of growth, decline, and renewal, Marmalade was revitalized through community-led preservation efforts supported by Preservation Utah. Today, it stands as a beautifully restored neighborhood within the Capitol Hill Historic District, offering visitors a glimpse into the city’s rich architectural and cultural past.

Ruth Morgan is the President of Preservation Utah’s Volunteer Council. She has been leading tours for Preservation Utah for over 8 years. Ruth is passionate about architecture and history and loves sharing her passion with others.
