About the event

Get ready for Preservation Utah’s Fall Homes Tour and join us for a special lecture exploring the history, architecture, and community legacy of Salt Lake City’s Fairpark neighborhood.

Tucked between North Temple and 600 North, Fairpark may appear modest in size, but its impact on the city’s story is profound. With more than 1,100 historic contributing buildings, Fairpark remains one of the city’s most historic neighborhoods, showcasing a blend of architectural styles and cultural traditions.

This lecture will set the stage for the October 18 Fall Homes Tour by offering deeper insights into Fairpark’s layered history. From its roots as a working-class and immigrant community to its enduring architectural heritage—Victorian cottages, pioneer-era adobes, and early 20th-century bungalows—Fairpark tells a story of persistence, adaptation, and identity on Salt Lake City’s west side
