It Happened on Main Street is a children’s book that uses illustrations and historic photographs to tell the story of a young boy, Sam, who goes to Main Street to watch a parade. The book highlights the importance of Main Street in a Community as well as the businesses and people that have always come to Main Street for the same reasons now that they did 100 years ago. Children can learn about the original function of a Main Street and what purpose they serve in a modern-day environment. The book also shows how preservation and new construction can be intregrated to create a memorable main street.

DVD - Our Main Street

In this short movie, two teenagers, Lexi and Brandon, have an assignment to match buildings to some historic photos that their teacher has given to them. Some buildings look nearly identical while others have almost completely changed. As they discover Main Street, there are some buildings that are hard to find because other buildings have been torn down around them. As they travel, Lexi and Brandon meet friends and go into stores as they explore the people and buildings on their Main Street.
